History
The roots of the Gulf Coast Kiteboarders Association have been
around since the beginning of kite boarding in the gulf coast region.
Since the mid 90s, the gulf coast has been host to some of Florida's
best kiteboarding locations. The club has been an informal venue for
kiteboarders to socialize, share ideas and expertise in and around the
gulf coast region . In the last few years the club has started to formalize
and start to structure annual events and training sessions.
Commitment
There have been many innovations throughout the years in kite
boarding equipment and technology. Each year new products come out,
but because of the cost of equipment normally riders cannot try before
they buy. GCK hopes to provide Gulf Coast riders an opportunity to try
the latest and greatest kite boarding technology through distributor
demo days. We also want to provide volunteers and assets for kite boarding
area clean-ups, keeping the places we ride clean. We are dedicated to
protecting kiteboarding locations on the gulf coast and increasing thier
availability to future riders.
Structure
The club was offically formed with Phil Midler serving as club
president. Because of its casual nature most of the time local riders
just help out when they can. In an attempt to hold larger functions
and expand our influence we are looking for people to be officers. We
need representatives from different parts of the Gulf Coast for setting
up functions and rides on the weekends, as well as people with web knowledge
to maintain forums and emails. If you are interested in becoming an
officer please send your name, email and phone number to info@gckiteboarders.com.
